Story Explorers: Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

Inspired by favorite children’s books, Story Explorers embark on a new adventure each week! Through creative movement, imagination, and hands-on art activities, students jump into the world of each story and set sail on this interactive theatre experience specially designed for our youngest students. A final presentation for family and friends will take place on the last day of class.

Music Movers: The Octopus' Garden

Get ready to move and groove! Students will make their own music exploring rhythm and music dynamics such as loud/soft, high/low, and fast/slow. Through creative movement inspired by underwater worlds, students will swim, dive, and float along as they explore different ways of moving in a celebration of self-expression. In our Music Movers classes, dancing to the beat of your own drum is encouraged! A final presentation for family and friends will take place on the last day of class.

Characters Take the Stage: Best Friends

A fun and physical introduction to the fundamental building blocks of drama (body, voice, mind, and imagination). With a theme selected to spark and support the creative process, students will participate in story dramatization, theatre games, improvisation, and more! The class will explore how to use bodies, voices, and imaginations to make big, bold choices as they create characters ready for the stage! A final presentation for family and friends will take place on the last day of class.

Sing & Dance-a-Story: Seussical!

A taste of musical theatre for young movers and shakers! Students will sing and dance to favorite tunes from the musical Seussical!, as they learn to “tell the story” of the song. Through music and movement exercises, theatre games, and improvisation, students will dance, sing, and act in musical numbers they help create! A final presentation for family and friends will take place on the last day of class.

Actor's Toolbox: Fundamentals of Acting

The Actor’s Toolbox engages students in the creative process and supports their growth as actors, individually and in ensemble. Throughout the class sessions, participants will develop and explore the fundamentals of performance (body, voice, mind, and imagination) by exploring technique, ensemble building, movement, voice, and working with basic text. We recommend students take this class more than once, to continue stocking their toolbox and keeping their tools sharp! A final presentation for family and friends will take place on the last day of class.

Theatre Design: Props: Is it Cake? Or is it a Prop?

A dynamic immersion into the world of prop design and creation. This class will explore elements of props design and techniques for making realistic-looking props that could be used on stage. Real food would spoil and not hold up for multiple performances but the audience needs to believe the props are real. Students will cook up a Feast for the eyes and imagination! A final presentation for family and friends will take place on the last day of class.

In our Actors' Studio series, serious acting students will move deeper into developing their craft. In Scene Study, students will learn how to unpack the “given circumstances” of a scene and work collaboratively with a scene partner to convey the heart of a piece. We recommend students take this class if they’ve taken Actor’s Toolbox: Fundamentals of Acting or have previous experience. A final presentation for family and friends will take place on the last day of class.

In our Musical Theatre Songbook series, musical theatre students will deepen and refine their skills by exploring pieces from the songbooks of notable Broadway Composers/lyricists. Students will deepen their musical theatre technique as they tackle complex works and explore the vocal dynamics and acting techniques to lift the lyrics off the page and truly act the songs. We recommend students take this class if they’ve taken Musical Theatre Fundamentals or have previous experience. A final presentation for family and friends will take place on the last day of class.
