Nick Vargas

Executive Director (He/Him/Hisis the Executive Director at Wheelock Family Theatre at Boston University (WFT@BU), greater Boston’s home for professional theatre experiences for the entire family. He provides oversight of the organizational strategic vision that fulfills WFT@BU’s artistic, educational, and social justice purposes. Nick is also a director and educator, having directed numerous productions at WFT@BU, centering the organization’s commitment to telling intergenerational stories that inspire a more creative, empathetic, and just society. Select WFT@BU directing credits include: The Addams Family, The Wizard of Oz, Walking the Tightrope, Little Women the Musical, Ragtime, Stuart Little, Seussical (Boston Children’s Museum), A Year With Frog & Toad (Boston Children’s Museum), Nightfall with Edgard Alan Poe & The Drowsy Chaperone (Teen Ensemble). Additional directing credits include, Ever in the Glades (Boston University), The Spitfire Grill (Emerson Stage), Bigger Than You, Bigger Than Me (Field Trip Theatre) & Fallbeil (Field Trip Theatre). He previously held the positions of Interim Artistic Director and Associate Artistic & Education Director. Nick has also directed at Boston University’s School of Theatre and Emerson College. Prior to returning to Boston, Nick previously served as the Casting Director and Artistic Associate at Imagination Stage, in Bethesda, MD and was a founding member and Artistic Director of Field Trip Theatre in Washington, D.C. Nick holds a BA in Theatre Education & Directing from Emerson College and a MBA in Social Impact, with a concentration in Leadership & Organizational Transformation from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business.
