Rachel Berman-Kobylarz
a Deaf Las Vegas native, moved here to Boston in 2021 with her Deaf husband and hearing dog to work as an Associate Academic Specialist and ASL Curriculum Coordinator for the American Sign Language and Interpreting Education (ASLIE) at Northeastern University. She has 14+ years of experience in ASL instruction at college level and consulted in the arts and entertainment industries (both hearing and Deaf theatres) as an ASL Coach and Director of Artistic Sign Language (DASL). Growing up as a dancer (majored in dancing at Las Vegas Academy of International Studies and Performing Arts) and in the arts, she is passionate about accessibility in arts and ensuring shows can be enjoyable by the Deaf/HH patrons through her work with the ASL interpreting team. Rachel has done DASL work for several theatrical productions in Boston such as Jesus Christ Superstar, SIX, Anastasia, Into the Woods, Frozen, CSC’s Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth and other productions hosted by Northeastern theater department such as This is Treatment and Polaroid Stories. She is very excited to work with WFT@BU for the first time
